When you’re disabled or have a loved one with difficulties you always look for ways to make life a little easier. In the Algarve it’s not always as easy as one may imagine or take for granted.

I’ve had and continue to receive amazing support however nothing ever prepares you for what you need to be ready for. The emotional battle aside, what about the day to day? I have come to meet many disabled children over the last few years through the hospital and found it so interesting that this is such a 'hush hush' topic. But why should it be? Why should these issues be hidden?

I strongly believe we were all put on this planet for a reason, and my son is definitely mine. The more I try and find ways to make his life easier in the Algarve the more I see how many other people would benefit knowing some of the tricks of the trade and may find some support or comfort reading about our journey.

This isn’t just for parents of disabled children; I’m hoping my stories may be entertaining to any mum or dad who fancies a five minute break.

So read on and please contact me for any more information and I’ll always try and help you the best I can.

Marley is a 6 year old little boy from the Algarve. He loves football, Mario super brothers and the colour green. His dream in life is to probably become a minion and is the happiest boy in the world.

Marley was born with Marfans Syndrome and Poretti Boltshauser which encompasses various medical problems including cerebral problems, muscular and bone conditions derived from genetic connective tissue disorders.

This is where his muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones are all on the same “control” system, whereas in most of us systems are linked but autonomous. However this is just a name, not a cure...

He has a global delay which affects many things in his body such as his speech, hearing, understanding etc. Despite this he is a super hero!

I have created this blog for two reasons. One is to give more information on Marley’s journey and have a hub to discuss our fundraising events and latest news. The other and most importantly is I want to help others by sharing our story.
